Philosophy
Every artist has a sound in their head.
Something half-formed but unmistakable, difficult to articulate and impossible to ignore. The work is in bringing that sound into the world without losing what made it worth chasing. That requires a certain kind of listening and the willingness to abandon a perfectly good idea when the song has a better one.
Much of record-making happens before anyone presses record. It's in choosing the right song, finding the arrangement that gives it room to breathe, and bringing together musicians who know what to do with that space.
The smallest decisions often make the greatest difference.
At its most basic, it's all just vibration. But the measure of a good session isn't how impressive something sounds through the monitors. It's the artist listening back on the drive home and hearing, perhaps for the first time, exactly what they meant.
